Pontoon Beach, IL (July 24, 2005) Craig Smith of Godfrey, IL set a torrid pace as he drove away from the field to claim his first ever UMP Late Model main event. Smith started on the outside of the second row and found a fast line around the top of the track and drove by pole sitter Michael Kloos on lap nine. Harrison started on the pole and led all thirty laps of the main event.
