TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY TO HONOR POLICE OFFICERS, FIRE FIGHTERS & FIRST RESPONDERS AT LT. COMMANDER ROBERT J. COONEY MEMORIAL RACE FRIDAY, AUGUST 15, 2008

Silent Auction to benefit Cooney Family Trust

The silent auction for the family of Lt. Commander Robert J. Cooney will conclude on Friday evening August 15 at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Illinois. Lt. Commander Cooney, formerly of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s Hostage Rescue Team, Canine and Mobile Reserve died in an off duty accident at his home. The silent auction proceeds will benefit the Cooney Family Trust.

In conjunction with the silent auction for Lt. Commander Cooney, Tri-City Speedway and its race fans will honor the men and women who put their life on the line every day. As a special tribute to these brave men and women, all police officers, firefighters, and first responders and their spouses will receive a discounted fee of $5.00 on August 15. Children 12 and under are free.

Gates open at 5:00, Hot Laps are at 6:15, Racing starts at 7:00

Auction items consist of an assortment of merchandise including a weekend package to Kansas Speedway and several autographed items by NASCAR and NHRA drivers. Bidders can view auction items at tricityspeedway.net and place a bid online until Thursday, August 14 at tricityspeedway@msn.com.

A special $10.00 Auction will be held Friday, August 15 only which will include an autographed Kenny Schrader diecast car, a ride-a-long with Kevin Gundaker, special auction baskets with UMP shirts and cars along with other items which will be included on the final night of the auction.

Police, fire and ambulance equipment including a Harley Davidson Ultra Classic Motorcycle, Command Center and canine officer will be on display for fans of all ages.

It’s a great time for fans who have never experienced Dirt Track Racing to get up close and personal with the racing experience and at the same time show their kids police, fire and emergency equipment in a non-emergency environment.
