Pontoon Beach, IL (August 28, 2005) Defending UMP Late Model National Champion Rodney Melvin of Benton, IL raced to his second straight UMP Late Model win at Tri-City Speedway. Melvin, who led the entire twenty-five lap main event fought off the challenges of Steve Sheppard enroute to claiming the win. Hagen started fourteenth in the main event and drove his RFMS Racing owned Liberty Village/McGladrey & Pullen Spike/Esslinger Ford past Jerry Coons for the lead on lap fifteen and held off Coon's challenges to regain the lead to earn the victory in the twenty-five lap main event.
