Darren Hagen completed a sweep of the three-day DuPont Gold Crown Midget Nationals winning Saturday night’s 50-lap POWRi/USAC National co-sanctioned event at Tri-City Speedway. Hagen stayed near the front of the field for the entire race, leading only the final two circuits around the 3/8-mile high banked clay oval. Some of the top modified shoes from throughout the Midwest were on hand Chad Kinder of Newton, Illinois got things kicked off on the right foot by setting fast time in qualifying with a new track record for modifieds with a time of 17.145 seconds.
