Pontoon Beach, IL (April 16th, 2010) Tri-City Speedway host the National All-Star Racing Association (NASRA) Late Model Series for their first ever appearance at the 3/8 mile dirt oval as they joined forces with the Monster Midwest Late Model Series which brought a stellar field of Late Models for a great shootout. It was the 2009 Tri-City Speedway Track Champion Mark Voigt out-dueling all of the travelers to claim the $3,000 top prize. Voigt jumped out to the lead at the drop of the green flag and was in control for most of the thirty laps. His only challenge came after a mid-race restart when Jason Feger was able to pull along side coming down the back stretch. However, Voigt was able to hold off the challenge and keep the lead enroute to the win. The real battle was for the second spot as Wendell Wallace, Jason Feger, Brian Shirley and Billy Laycock had a classic battle swapping around the second through fifth positions throughout much of the event. Brian Shirley took advantage of the Delware Double File restart on lap twenty-five and moved from fifth to second as he split the second and third place running Wallace and Feger to take the spot. Shirley would hold off the challenges of Wallace in the final laps to finish second. Wallace took third with Feger finishing fourth. Laycock rounded out the top five.

The American Modified Series also made the debut run at Tri-City Speedway and provided a thrilling thirty lap main event that saw Michael Long of Quincy, Illinois take the victory. Mike Harrison took command early on but after an early caution reset the field, a great battle would ensue between Harrison and Long. With the American Modified Series restart procedures, the leader choose high or low on the restart and the second place car then pulls along side for a complete side-by-side restart. Harrison and Long restarted side-by-side on several restarts throughout the event and continued to battle side-by-side for a big part of the event. However, after a caution on lap twenty-one, things wouldn’t go so well for Harrison. Long jumped out to the lead and Harrison tried the very top once again and lost several spots which allowed Donovan Lodge to move into second and Ed Shamhart to third. A few laps later, the caution would fly and this time it would be for Harrison who tangled with another car and went spinning down the front stretch. On the ensuing with just five laps remaining, the cars of Lodge, Jeff Leka and Ray Walsh would get together down the backstretch sending Walsh spinning to infield and ending his night with a broken tie rod. It would also send Leka to the infield pit area for repairs. Lodge avoided spinning and kept going to maintain his position on the next restart. That would give Shamhart one last shot at Long and Shamhart made a charge for the lead down the back stretch and slid up in front of Long going into three and four. Long would then cross-over and pull underneath Shamhart down the front stretch and make the same slide move back in front of Shamhart going into turns one and two. Long would hold on and take the win. Shamhart would take second with Shelby Miles finishing third. Marty Smith, Jr. made a big charge from the back to finish fourth and Lodge rounded out the top five.

Scott Weber dominated the Pro Crate Late Model events as he would the makeup feature from two weeks earlier and the regular night’s feature as well. The first feature went the first eighteen of twenty laps caution free and Weber had opened up almost a half-track lead on second place contender Nick Lyons. Lyons was able to pull right up on the back bumper for the restart, but Weber once again pulled away to take the win. Lyons would take second with Matt Santel finishing third. Eric Gowan would take the fourth spot and Brant Kehrer rounded out the top five.

In the regularly scheduled main event, Scott Weber once again drove away from the field and took a comfortable victory. Casey Montague held off Nick Lyons to finish second. Jason Zobrist would finish fourth behind Lyons with Brant Kehrer once again claiming the fifth spot.
