Some of the top modified shoes from throughout the Midwest were on hand Chad Kinder of Newton, Illinois got things kicked off on the right foot by setting fast time in qualifying with a new track record for modifieds with a time of 17.145 seconds.

There were 140 race cars on hand in the five divisions to compete in the night's events. The $5,000 triumph was Phillipss second consecutive on the MARS tour after he went winless in the first 11 events of the 2007 season. He broke through for his initial victory on Aug. 11 at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland , Mo.
