Pontoon Beach, IL (August 17th, 2012) - Brian Shirley of Chatham, IL held off the challenges of Dewayne Kiefer for all twenty-five laps to earn the victory in the UMP DIRTcar Late Model main event. Shirley led all twenty-five laps but Kiefer was right there challenging Shirley for the lead lap after lap. Billy Laycock would have his best run of the 2012 season and moved up through the field to finish in third. Bobby Pierce would get the fourth spot with Tim Manville rounding out the top five. Brian Shirley would dedicate this win to Charles "PhotoBilly" Haffer, a regional racing photographer and overall huge racing fan, who's life was cut short in a highway traffic accident less than two weeks ago. Shirley decided he would also donate half his feature winnings to the family of PhotoBilly.
