Friday, July 4th  (We are racing tonight) U.M.P. Summer Nationals paying $10,000 to win for U.M.P. Super Late Models! Also racing will be U.M.P. Modifieds for $1,000 to win, U.M.P. Sportsman for $500 to win and U.M.P. Street Stocks for $500 to win! Pit gates open at 4pm, grandstands open at 5pm, qualifying at 7:00pm. Tickets are $25 with kids 12 and under free. Kenny Schrader will be racing! There will also be a huge fireworks display after the race!

U.M.P. Summer Nationals invade Tri-City Speedway on Friday, July 4th!
Pontoon Beach, IL (July 1, 2008) The U.M.P. DIRTcar Summer Nationals will roar into Tri-City Speedway on Friday, July 4th. Ten thousand dollars will go to the winner of the forty lap main event featuring some of the fastest super dirt late models in the country. Dennis Erb or Carpentersville, Illinois and Brian Shirley of Chatham, Illinois are currently in a dead heat as they battle for the 2008 U.M.P. DIRTcar Summer Nationals Championship which features twenty-seven races in thirty days and is appropriately nicknamed "THE HELL TOUR".

Some other top drivers expected to compete for all the big prize include Billy Moyer, Brian Birkhofer, Darren Miller, Wendell Wallace, Jesse Stovall, Jeep Van Wormer, Will Vaught, Randy Korte, Wes Steidinger, Billy Faust, Don O'Neal, Mark Burgtorf, Steve Sheppard, Bryan Collins, Mark Faust, Michael Kloos and many, many more!

Also on the racing card will be the U.M.P. Modified division which will be paying $1,000 to the winner, the U.M.P. Sportsman and U.M.P. Street Stock divisions that will each be paying $500 to the winner. The UMP Sportsman race will be part of the ten race St. Louis area Sportsman Challenge which has it's own additional point fund.

The pit gate will open at 4pm and the grandstand gate will open at 5pm. Practice sessions will begin at 6:15pm with qualifying at 7pm. Racing will immediately follow qualifying.

Admission will be $25 with kids 12 years old and younger FREE.

Lt. Robert Cooney Memorial Benefit Auction!
Tri-City Speedway is joining with the St. Louis racing community to benefit a worthy cause with a silent auction for Lt. Robert Cooney who died due to an off duty accident at his home. He was the Commander of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Dept. SWAT, Canine and Hostage Response Team. He was the ACE trainer for SWAT and Hostage Response Team for our country. He was also Tri-City track officials Carolyn and Gordon May’s nephew. He would have retired in one year. Since he died at home there are no organizations to provide for his family's future. Tri-City Speedway is holding a silent auction for his children Sarah age 13 and Sean age 10. To learn more about Lt. Cooney visit the robertjcooneymemorial.org website. Pontoon Beach, IL - (June 27, 2008) With severe thunderstorms all around the St. Louis area most of Friday afternoon, it appeared Tri-City Speedway was on their way to yet another cancellation. However, the rain completely missed the track as there wasn't even of a sprinkle all day long. With other area tracks cancelled, Tri-City Speedway had a few additional cars on hand.

Pontoon Beach, IL (June 20, 2008) Although Tri-City Speedway received heavy rain on Thursday night and the threat of rain lingered all day Friday, Tri-City Speedway was able to run for the fifth time in 2008 on their normal Friday night schedule. Tri-City Speedway had already had nine Friday night and one Sunday night event cancelled in 2008 because of rain.
